Diesel prices in most areas of the country were up again this week, the Department of Energy reported on Monday. The U.S. national average price hit $3.333 per gallon, on the sixth straight week of price increases.
The 0.2-cent rise put diesel at its highest level since October 2008. Only the Midwest region posted a modest decline from the previous week, dropping 0.001 cents.

Oil has been on a downward trajectory for the past three weeks, and that has slowed diesel's increases, though only slightly. Oil closed the previous week at $88.03 in New York, and close Monday at $89.25.

The national average diesel pump price in Canada on Monday was $1.137 per liter, or $4.303 per U.S. gallon, not including currency exchange.
