Watch for higher tolls on bridges and tunnels heading into New York City starting Dec. 30.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board has approved a series of fare and toll policy changes. For E-ZPass users, tolls for both cars and trucks will be 5 percent higher. The toll hike will be higher for drivers paying cash.
Today, for instance, a five-axle truck with E-ZPass pays $45 to cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Staten Island. Under the new rates, it will cost $47.26. Without an E-ZPass, that same truck will have to pay $70, up from today's $60.
