Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. will launch its 17-city nationwide truck tour on April 21.
The 2010 Old Dominion Truck Tour will start at the company's Greenville, S.C., Service Center, make stops at company service centers in 14 states, and end up in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 15.

The truck tour is aimed at sharing the company's history while also providing an idea of where ODFL is headed in the future.

The tour's centerpiece is a customized rolling museum featuring photos and videos from the company's past and a sneak peek at what lies ahead. At each stop, there will also be games, food, outdoor activities and tours of the service center. The rolling museum is hauled by a custom-built, 38-ton, hydraulic-enabled 2009 Freightliner DD-15 Cascadia.

"We developed a nationwide truck tour last year to honor our 75th anniversary with the goal of sharing our unique history - and our vision for the future - with customers and communities throughout the United States," said Chip Overbey, vice president of national accounts and marketing for Old Dominion.

Old Dominion was founded in 1934 by Earl and Lillian Congdon with a single truck running between Richmond and Norfolk, Va. While it remains family operated, Old Dominion is a global, publicly-traded company with 210 service centers.
