Marten Transport, Mondovi, Wis., announced that starting Nov. 1, it will raise settlement rates for owner-operators by 2 cents per mile across the board to its scale.

"Being able to increase our settlement rate at this time and offer consistent freight and miles is evidence of Marten's stability and long-term planning," says Tim Norlin, Director of Recruiting.

In addition to the increase, Marten offers other advantages to help ensure success for owner-operators, such as:

• Business support services through ATBS, business services provider with solutions for owner operators. Their services include assistance with taxes, accounting, bookkeeping, education, and more.
• Increased profitability from purchasing power on fuel, shop fees, tires and APUs. "We have taken advantage of our volume discount with our APU suppliers so our owner operators can get these units at our cost," says Terry Kees, Marten Transport manager of contractor relations.
• Marten's health plan provides an affordable option for major medical/catastrophic health coverage with no underwriting, no waiting period and competitive rates.
• For drivers interested in owning their own truck, Marten has two options for leasing a truck with one of them including the possibility of an APU already installed.
