More than 200 participants from around the world are expected at the Third International large Truck and Bus Safety Symposium
at the Center for Transportation Research at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., in November.
According to organizer Zach Zacharia, participation from both academics and real-world stakeholders is sought. The goal is to provide a forum for carriers, shippers, inspectors, law enforcement officials, highway officials, insurers, regulators, manufacturers and researchers to discuss safety issues.
The symposium will be Nov. 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Knoxville. Organizers have asked for papers and oral presentations in areas such as driver issues, vehicle design, driver fatigue, technology, accident investigation, regulatory and enforcement issues, and partnerships between carriers and shippers.
