Arkansas Best Corp., Fort Smith, Ark., was recently named by Forbes magazine as a member of its Platinum 400 list of the best big companies in America.

Included in the Jan.8 issue of Forbes, the Platinum 400 judges companies on various financial measures including return on capital, growth in sales and earnings per share, net income, operating and profit margin and debt-to-capital ratio.
"This honor is recognition of the financial success that Arkansas Best Corporation has displayed over the last several years," said Robert A.Young III, Arkansas Best president and CEO. "We are very proud to be included among such leading American companies as Charles Schwab, Wal-Mart Stores and General Electric."
Arkansas Best was one of 17 companies included in the Travel and Transport industry group.
