Yellow Freight System, an LTL carrier based in Overland Park, Kan., is expediting its Standard Ground service throughout the Northeastern U.S. and Canada.

The change of operations will focus on the Buffalo, N.Y., area by reconfiguring delivery and shipment handling schedules at 23 terminals that feed into that major distribution facility.
The change creates two-day Standard Ground regional service in 478 metro-to-metro markets that formerly took three days or longer.
The company first introduced the high-speed network concept in March 2000 in Cleveland, Ohio, when it opened a new terminal.
The company also plans to introduce expedited Standard Ground service in six to seven additional regions during 2001.
