Schneider National, Green Bay, Wis., has improved its fuel savings programs for owner-operators and fleet owners.

In addition to its Fuel Price Protection Program, Schneider will now offer owner-operators and fleet owners savings at the fuel pumps of certain truckstop chains. Truckers leased to Schneider will save an additional 3 to 4. 5 cents per gallon at all Pilot, Travel Centers of America, Williams Travel Centers and Petro locations across North America.
Kicked off in September 1999, the Fuel Price Protection Program was designed to offset high fuel costs and to add an additional 6-7 cents per mile to owner-operator and fleet owner base pay. The program is based on the Department of Transportation's price per gallon and is updated each week. The surcharge kicks in when fuel prices exceed $1.18 per gallon.
