J.B. Hunt Transport, Lowell, AR, reports that its new driver pay package has benefited the company, its employees and customers.
Implemented in February 1997, the new pay plan raised driver pay-per-mile an average of 33% and offered additional safety, customer service and fuel conservation incentives.
In addition to improved customer service, the plan also resulted in a lower driver turnover — from 100% to 40%. And, as further indication of plan’s success, 1,250 J.B. Hunt drivers earned more than $50,000 in 1997
