A biennial trade show billed as Canada's largest for the trucking industry has been cancelled.

Toronto-based dmg world media said Friday it has cancelled this year's Truckcan event, which was scheduled for Oct. 26-28 at the International Centre in Toronto. The company says it wants to focus on Expocam, a trade show held in Montreal on alternate years to Truckcan.
The company reportedly failed to secure commitments from a number of major original equipment manufacturers, many of which decided to instead exhibit at Truck World 2000, the inaugural show organized by the Ontario Trucking Association.
The OTA previously endorsed Truckcan for a negotiated fee, but decided to invest in its own trade show, scheduled for Sept. 14-16, 2000, at the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto. Motor carrier members sitting on the OTA's Board of Directors pledged to send their employees to Truck World 2000 only, and not to Truckcan.
dmg world media, a division of the Daily Mail Group, is North America's largest producer of trade and consumer shows. The company organizes more than 200 trade exhibitions worldwide each year.
