The U.S. DOT tapped Landstar System, Jacksonville, FL, to receive the $300 million single-source nationwide Emergency Transportation Services contract.
The contract, awarded to Landstar through the FAA, provides for complete nationwide transportation services of federal disaster relief supplies and resources. Over a dozen transportation and logistics companies competed for the contract, ultimately won by Landstar Express America.
Should they be called upon to aid in a natural disaster, Landstar will be expected to provide time-critical transportation and information solutions, especially crucial where communities and families are at risk.
