As spring arrives, several construction projects will get underway in the St. Louis area. They include night and midday pavement and bridge-deck repairs on Interstate 44, between Lindbergh Blvd. in Kirkwood and Murdoch Ave. in Webster Groves; pavement repairs on southbound Interstate 270 between I-70 and Clayton Rd.; and replacement of the St. Charles Rock Road bridge over the MetroLink tracks near the Rock Road light-rail station.
Because the construction budget has increased from $140 million a year to $250 million this year, the area is getting a heavy dose of roadwork. Some projects have continued since last year, such as the work on Interstate 64 between downtown East St. Louis and Illinois
Route 111. Crews will continue resurfacing on Illinois Route 15. Other projects include resurfacing Illinois Route 3 in Waterloo and Route 203 in Granite City.
