HighwayMaster Communications Inc., Richardson, TX, has been chosen to provide Ameritech and other member companies of SBC Communications Inc. more than 28,000 HighwayMaster Series 5005S intelligent mobile units.
The installation, which will occur throughout 2000, also includes enhanced proprietary software and services. Management expects that this installation will create one of the largest GPS-based service fleet management systems in the United States.
The HighwayMaster Series 5005S provides service vehicle fleets with event-based location tracking, mobile voice communication, and a location-based panic alarm device using both terrestrial-based wireless communications capabilities and the Global Positioning System satellite
network.
