The 18 Wheels of Hope food drive will celebrate its success during a festival Wednesday evening at the Texas Stadium in Dallas.

The evening will include barbecue and entertainment by Miss Trixie and the Long Riders. Guest speakers during the ceremony are schedule to include top officials from the American Trucking Assns., the Truckload Carriers Assn., NATSO and Comdata. Admission to the festival is a commemorative 1999 18 Wheels of Hope lapel pin, sold at the door for a $2 donation.
In addition, drivers or companies who have registered to collect a minimum of one truckload of food (30,000 pounds), or $5,400 in cash donations, will be eligible to take part in the 18 Wheels of Hope Truck Parade on Thursday morning, Sept. 9.
Food donations will be distributed through Second Harvest, the interim benefiting charity for the 1999 campaign. All cash donations will go to Second Harvest, unless otherwise designated by the donor. The previous charity partner, Feed The Children, was dropped after allegations surfaced of employee theft of donations and improper financial dealings.
