The International Trucking Show starts today at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is the first year for the show at this location; for the last several years, it has been held at the Sands Expo Center, in May.

New this year are an owner-operator driving skills competition on Thursday and a town hall meeting on hours of service today. There will be more than 700 companies exhibiting. Truckers will also be treated to a free Trucker Appreciation Barbecue tonight from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
J.J. Keller will present seminars on hazardous materials training; federal motor carrier safety regulations; alcohol and drug testing; and forklift training. Another workshop will provide truckers information on health and fitness, from dietary guidelines to the right way to give CPR, each day of the show from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The show lasts through Friday, June 11. Doors are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Unlike the Sands, there is paved on-site parking for both big rigs and cars. In addition, free shuttles will run every 15 to 20 minutes from the Flying J, Pilot, King 8 and TravelCenters of America truckstops.
