Eaton Corp. will spend $100 million to build a new transmission plant in Mexico in order to meet surging demand for heavy duty vehicles. Selection of the manufacturing site will be announced shortly, the company said.
Construction will begin this year and continue in phases over the next five years. It will be a "primary manufacturing facility," according to Eaton, with complete transmission fabrication and assembly capability.
The plant's capacity will be incremental to existing North American transmission plants, the company said.
The new plant will also complement Eaton's Roadranger regional sales and service facility headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, which serves the new product and aftermarket needs of its Mexican customers.
