The board of directors of the Truckload Carriers Assn. voted to accept a new strategic plan Wednesday during TCA’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.

In a unanimous vote, TCA’s board agreed the American Trucking Assns. would accept responsibility for lobbying for both groups when it comes to political issues, while TCA will exercise the lead in emphasizing issues involving business management and training.
The two also agreed to set up a new “Truckload Academy” that will focus on training and education efforts for both group’s members. The academy will offer courses for members in trucking company management, dispatching, recruiting and other areas.
Also during the convention, the incoming TCA chairman was announced: Gary Baumhover of Grojean Transportation, located in Dubuque, IA.
