In his State of the Union address Tuesday night President Obama repeated his call to use corporate tax reform to fund a large, one-time infusion of money into infrastructure.

Blumenauer to Propose Diesel and Gasoline Tax Hikes

Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., will introduce bills to raise federal fuel taxes, index them to inflation and test a vehicle-mile tax. New GAO Report Shows High Number of Bridges are in “Poor Condition”

A new report says despite some improvements in the past decade, a substantial number of U.S. bridges are still in poor condition. The report from the Government Accountability Office was in response to the May collapse of a bridge along Interstate 5 in Washington state.

Virginia Governor Signs Bill Increasing Fuel Taxes for Transportation

The new law also limits putting tolls along the state’s section of I-95.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed legislation Monday raising billions of dollars for transportation that includes new taxes on fuel. They may go even higher depending on what happens to legislation on Capitol Hill.
