Driver Shortage Top Challenge for Heavy-Duty Fleets

An annual survey of fleet representatives found that the driver shortage and improving fuel efficiency are among the key issues for heavy-duty fleets. The findings were published in the CK Commercial Vehicle Research 2014 Annual Fleet Study.

Kenworth System Coaches Driver Performance

Kenworth added the Driver Performance Assistant option for new T680 and T880 models with Paccar MX-13 engines and automated transmissions. The system is part of the Driver Performance Center which tracks vehicle efficiency statistics.

Eaton Stirs up Medium-Duty Market with Dual-Clutch Transmission

A new medium-duty, dual-clutch transmission from Eaton, called Procision, promises automatic-like driver feel and interface with the performance attributes of a manual transmission, plus fuel and maintenance savings. Equipment Editor Jim Park has the story.

Study: Fuel-Efficient Tires Perform in Winter Weather

Transport Canada recently released the results of a study on the safety and environmental performance of low rolling resistance tires. Low rolling resistance tires are designed to improve vehicle fuel efficiency. They are made of advanced materials and have treads, dimensions and weights that help to minimize the energy lost as the tire rolls across the road surface.
