CARB Unveils Proposed Changes to California’s Truck and Bus Regulation

The California Air Resources Board unveiled proposed amendments to its Truck and Bus Regulation. The amendments are designed to provide new flexibility to truckers working to clean up their aging diesel fleets while still protecting the important emission benefits the regulation provides. CARB members will consider the changes at the April 24 hearing.

Trucking Company Sues Caterpillar Over ACERT Engine Technology

Caterpillar advertised its C15 engine with ACERT technology for 2007 at an industry trade show.

Caterpillar is again facing legal action as a result of the ACERT engine technology it used to meet EPA's 2007 emissions regulations. A proposed class action suit filed last week in New Jersey federal court alleges Caterpillar sold defective engine systems that constantly failed and did not last as long as Caterpillar said they would.

CARB Issues First Fine Under 2004 TRU Regs

The San Bernardino County Superior Court has fined Foster Enterprises, an Ontario-based refrigerated transportation and cold storage business, $300,000 after a California Air Resources Board investigation revealed that the company failed to upgrade older diesel engines in its refrigerated trailer fleet as required to meet current emissions standards
