The California Air Resources Board unveiled proposed amendments to its Truck and Bus Regulation. The amendments are designed to provide new flexibility to truckers working to clean up their aging diesel fleets while still protecting the important emission benefits the regulation provides. CARB members will consider the changes at the April 24 hearing.

The recent extreme cold experienced by whole parts of the nation has put an increased burden on trucks and truckers. According to Mel Kirk, vice president of maintenance operations Ryder Systems Inc., diesel fuel and diesel exhaust fluid will freeze in extremely cold temperatures.

Pilot Flying J says it is on track to offer diesel exhaust fluid at the pump at nearly every diesel lane at the company’s travel centers and travel plazas across the U.S. by October. Currently it's offered in 3,407 lanes across 404 store locations.

The North American retail diesel exhaust fluid network reached a landmark figure last month with over 1,000 locations offering diesel exhaust fluid at the fuel island. Currently, there are 1,025 such locations, an increase of 553 since April 2012.

The U.S. national DEF pump price remained level at $2.79 per gallon for the third consecutive month in February 2013.
Prior to this period, the national average has only held steady month-to-month once, which occured in April 2012.
