LAS VEGAS -- Accuride introduced new steel and aluminum wheels and extended warranties on anti-corrosion coatings at this year’s Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.

Two 22.5 x 8.25 steel wheels new to the Accu-Lite line will be available in two- and five-handhole versions starting in April. The new wheels are 3 pounds lighter than previous models. RIck Dauch said that means the company now has the lightest steel wheel on the market in the U.S. and Europe.

The five-handhole version weighs only 65 pounds for fleets looking to increase efficiency through lightweighting. The two-handhole wheel weighs in at 67 pounds.

The company also introduced a new Quantum 99 aluminum alloy wheel designed to be 20% stronger than the company’s previous offering. The wheel’s weight was reduced by 11% over previous comparable models and weighs in at 40 pounds. The wheel will be available in the third quarter of the year.

Lastly, Accuride is extending the warranties on its Steel Armor and EverSteel anti-corrosion coating technologies. Steel Armor now comes with a 5-year standard warranty and EverSteel’s warranty has been extended to 8 years. The warranties are effective with Accuride steel wheels manufactured with the coatings on or after Jan. 1, 2017.

Steel Armor’s three-step powder coating is applied to every steel wheel Accuride produces in North America and provides protection from rust. EverSteel’s corrosion protection system forms a tough barrier that resists chips and scratches from road debris and isolates the wheel from harsh elements, delaying the onset of corrosion for at least eight years.
