Stemco has changed the color of the Genuine CentriFuse brake drum product line to a new blue color to distinguish the products from fake overseas copies. Stemco is a manufacturer of commercial-vehicle wheel end, braking and suspension components.

Overseas manufacturers have been making brake drums that look like Genuine CentriFuse products. The manufacturer said this leads to customers receiving low-quality products when they think they’re buying Stemco products.

The new color will allow fleet managers to distinguish real Stemco brake drums from imitation products.

The change applies to Original CentriFuse, CentriFuse Lite and CentriFuse Wide brake drums. CentriFuse HD brake drums were changed from black to red in 2014 and will continue being sold in the red color.

“Launching our Genuine CentriFuse brake drums in a new, easily recognizable color furthers our mission of making the roadways safer,” said Jeff Bates, Stemco segment business leader for brake drums. “Our customers deserve the reassurance that their fleets are equipped with products they can rely on. The blue color makes that easier than ever.”
