John O'Keefe captured Best of Show honors with his 2007 Peterbilt 379 EXHD Legacy at the 30th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition May 17-19 at the Joplin, Mo., Speedco.
John O'Keefe won Best in Show with his 2007 Peterbilt 379 EXHD Legacy at the 30th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition.
The winning truck, called "Low Life," also captured first place in the Best Interior, Best Theme, Best Chrome, Best Lights and Best Engine categories.
Paul Rissler of California, Mo., won Best of Show first runner up and $4,000 with his 1996 Peterbilt 379. T.J. Timblin of West Bend, Wis., won Best of Show second runner up and $2,500 for his 2005 Kenworth 900L.
The competition is a truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. Owner-operators from across the U.S. and Canada competed for cash and prizes valued at approximately $25,000. Additionally, 12 lucky drivers were selected to have their truck featured in the 2013 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.
The event also helped raise $100,000 for All Roads Lead to Joplin, a group developed to help raise funds to benefit the YMCA of Joplin's community disaster recovery efforts following the devastating tornado in May 2011. In addition, truck owners Todd and Beth Roccapriore immediately donated their $10,000 cash prize to the YMCA of Joplin as well.
First place winners also included Wayne Vogt or Hesston, Kan., in the Tractor/Trailer Division; Pat Eilen of Hampton, Minn., in the Tractor Division; Travis Headley of Lebanon, Mo., in the Classic Division. The 2012 Peterbilt 389 of Shane Price of Lebo, Kan., won the People's Choice Award, which is voted on throughout the event by contestants and spectators. All category winners also received a case of Shell Rotella T Triple Protection engine oil and a Speedco prize package.
Two new awards were included this year. Ronald Millsap of Statesville, N.C., won the Hardworking Award. The award recognizes one driver for how hard he/she works in keeping the economy moving. Paul McMasters of Bristow, Okla., won the Shell Rotella Virtual SuperRigs award. The award recognized the trucker that received the most votes on the Shell Rotella Virtual SuperRigs site (www.virtualsuperrigs.com).
