More than 500 highway safety enforcement officers, government administrative and truck and motor coach industry representatives from Canada, Mexico and the United States are attending the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Spring Workshop this week
in Rapid City, S.D.
Most of the activities are taking place in the Rapid City Civic Center, where Joseph Clapp, Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, is delivering a major address Wednesday morning.
Clapp is expected to discuss his agency’s efforts to crack down on aggressive driving behavior of automobile drivers and truck drivers. He also will discuss efforts under way at federal and state levels to make highways more safe and secure.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance is North America’s leading commercial vehicle safety enforcement organization and has been in existence since the early 1980s. Each year, CVSA trained personnel conduct more than 2 million commercial vehicle safety inspections at roadside locations throughout North America.
