The American Trucking Associations' Technology and Maintenance Council has changed the scheduling of its Fall Meeting next week in Jacksonville, Fla., because of problems in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.
TMC had originally scheduled a full complement of information technology-related educational sessions at its Fall Meeting, Oct. 15-18. According to TMC Executive Director Carl Kirk, the restrictions in corporate travel and the slowing economy have cut Fall Meeting attendance by the IT community.
In light of the this, the TMC Executive Committee has elected to postpone these sessions until TMC's Annual Meeting and Transportation Exhibition, which will be held March 5-8 at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. All fees for IT registrants for the 2001 Fall Meeting will be refunded.
The affected sessions are:
All of Monday's IT-related task force activity within the following study groups have also been postponed to the 2002 Annual Meeting: S.21 - Data Interchange Study Group, S.22 - Automated Data Entry Study Group, S.23 - Technology and Logistics Management Study Group, and S.24 - Off-board Data Communications Study Group.
The main technical session for Tuesday, Oct. 16 entitled "Trucking's Technology Integration Challenge" will continue to be held as originally scheduled, as will all of the traditional TMC technical and study group sessions.
