Nearly 300 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks have been recalled because of software problems that can cause the engines to stall.

The affected 1998 and 1999 trucks are equipped with Caterpillar engines and Eaton AutoShift transmissions. Models affected include Kenworth T600, T800, T2000 and W900, and Peterbilt 357, 377, 378, 379 and 385. Dealers will update the engines with software changes.
Owner notification was expected to begin last month. Owners who don't get the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Kenworth at (206) 828-5418 or Peterbilt at (940) 591-4000.
