SmartStop’s new contactless “smart card” offers truck stop operators automated communication at the fuel pump, reduced or eliminated transaction fees, fast information and settlement, a way to implement and track loyalty programs, and a share of revenues from card usage.
The card, which has a computer chip in it, offers multiple applications – fueling, vending, phone calls, loyalty programs, c-store and restaurant purchases, and receiving cash.
For fueling, there is a separate smart card that is mounted at the fuel tank inlet. The pump is fitted with nozzle coil antennas, which are connected to the nozzle interface unit. This interface unit communicates with the controlling computer. This results in simplified, accurate information flowing between the driver and the fuel desk.
