Truckers shouldn’t look for any breaks from tolls in Maine. Although there has been an outcry in the state legislature about the turnpike’s February 1 toll hikes, when the scheduled meeting of the Maine Turnpike Authority takes place tomorrow, they’ll only be looking at cutting back the increase for car drivers.

The move is in response to a bill by state lawmakers, who are fuming over price hikes and want to reorganize the authority or possibly even dissolve it.
On Feb. 1, tolls along the Maine Turnpike are scheduled to rise from $9 to more than $12 for a five-axle tractor-trailer.
