The Future of Fleet Is Managing the Connected Vehicle Ecosystem

November 27, 2017

In the next decade, the term "fleet management" will soon become inadequate to fully define the scope of our industry and it will be viewed as an anachronistic label. Today's vehicle connectivity megatrend will be the catalyst of an expanded fleet business model focused on managing a new connected vehicle ecosystem. This fleet ecosystem will encompass not only the vehicle, but also the mobile workers and, more importantly, the work they performed and the tools they use.

New Category of Fleet Manager to Gain Legitimacy

August 6, 2015

For the past several decades, FMCs have employed in-house fleet managers in their fleet administration departments to manage client fleets, but were promoted from within the FMC. Now, we are starting to witness FMCs hiring traditional fleet managers. Does this make a trend? It is still too early to tell, but, what I can say is that it has caught our attention. My prediction is that this is indeed the start of a bona fide, long-term, industry trend that will accelerate in future years.
