The Mid-America Trucking Show is next week, which means I've been bombarded for weeks with invitations to visit various booths. One of the most unusual has been the opportunity to meet with a "celebrity in the making," Brad James. Check out this video:

According to my e-mail, James, "the singing truck driver," is from Port Orange, Fla., and drives for Barr Nunn. He writes trucking-version lyrics of popular songs, records them, then lip-syncs to them in the cab of his truck to create YouTube videos. He's got a nice voice and a clever way with lyrics.

This one, "Detention," sung to "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay," is by far the most popular one, with more than 27,000 views on YouTube as of this writing. More than 2 million people saw the post of the video on his Facebook page, he says, and nearly 60,000 people "shared" that post.

James will be performing on the OOIDA stage in the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium Parking lot on Friday, March 28, along with some other talented truckers.
