General Electric and Peake Fuel Solutions, an affiliate of Chesapeake Energy, recently launched the CNG In A Box system, which allows for easier adoption of compressed natural gas refueling options by large- and small-scale retailers and fleets.

CNG In A Box is a portable or "plug and play" fueling system. It can compress natural gas from a pipeline into CNG on-site, either at a traditional filling station or at an industrial location.

CNG-powered vehicles such as taxis, buses, or small trucks, as well as individual consumer vehicles, can then refill their tanks using a dispenser with the same look and feel as a traditional diesel or gasoline dispenser.

"In collaboration with Peake Fuel Solutions, GE is developing infrastructure solutions to accelerate the adoption of natural gas as a transportation fuel," said Mike Hosford, general manager of unconventional resources at GE Oil and Gas.
