PeopleNet, provider of onboard computing and mobile communications systems for fleet management, released NaviGo 4.0, the newest version of its in-cab navigation. Navigo helps drivers create routes and get back on route in the quickest way by calculating re-routes locally on the onboard computer.

"To ensure safe and efficient driving, trucking companies are looking to eliminate as many driver distractions as possible," says PeopleNet Senior Vice President of Operations and Product Management Rick Ochsendorf. "Lost drivers tend to have a higher accident rate; the newest version of NaviGo in-cab navigation helps drivers safely return to their route with spoken turn-by-turn directions-the best way to reduce potential litigation and a key to preventing poor CSA scores."

In addition to the Automatic Onboard Reroute capability, NaviGo has added Hybrid Onboard routing to help drivers maximize drive time and identify the most efficient route to their delivery destinations, truck services, restaurants and rest stops. Drivers can easily search millions of points of interest by name or category to identify where they want to go and create routes. The hybrid routing method not only allows onboard route creation to occur in areas of poor cellular coverage, but also merges customized onboard routes with off board routes that include customized route modifiers.
