Willis Power Systems introduced a compact APU (auxiliary power unit), the lightweight Willie APU.

The Willie will be initially sold and distributed through its current and expanding dealer network that includes The Larson Group as well as various Rush Truck Centers and Hunter Truck Sales locations.

The Willie APU offers up to 50 percent more engine power than competitive products, according to the company, and its compact and lightweight design allows for easy installation of a closed-loop cooling (CLC) system versus one that is integrated into the truck's own HVAC system.

"In essence," says Keith Wright, WPS Chief Operating Officer, "Willie provides the power and quality of our Premium APU product but is priced very competitively to meet the needs of the average driver and trucking company. Willie gives built-in redundancy to a big rig's critical systems. At the same time, it is designed to be very serviceable and is backed by extraordinary parts availability."
