American Portwell Technology announced the PCS-8270 x86-computer-based telematics system. The PCS-8270 system provides in-vehicle information in a rugged, compact and flexible format as required for fleet management, navigation and real-time fleet tracking.

The PCS-8270 is packed into a fan-less, rugged enclosure measures only 5.74" x 7.72" x 2.13". A host of features include integrated Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GSM, GPS, dual-display output, solid state disk and a wide range DC power input that spans 9 to 27V.

Avoiding rotating parts improves reliability by freeing the device from concerns caused by dust penetration and eliminating bearings as points of failure. Its modularized I/O design provides ODMs with the flexibility to configure I/O ports and radio transmitters and receivers for a variety of applications, including fleet navigation, real-time fleet tracking and fleet dispatch management.
