Mobile DVIR from FleetLine Metrics is a new automated vehicle inspection system that allows drivers to report daily fleet pre-trip/post-trip data electronically in real time from any location from a standard cell phone.

Using a simple text message, drivers communicate daily maintenance checks (tires, lamps, brakes, etc.) to any party in order to reduce costs, comply with regulations, and enhance safety. Accessed electronically, data can be searched, sorted and analyzed by virtually any variable, providing the information needed to make timely maintenance decisions, and assist with CSA Vehicle Condition BASIC requirements.

DVIR is a paperless recordkeeping system that can replace existing DVIR forms and records. The daily inspection results are sent by text message from a cell phone, so there is no need for telematic capability. DVIR provides critical maintenance and defect information to fleets as they arise to prevent costs from escalating and protect against CSA interventions. It also eliminates the need for drivers to fax or mail paper DVIR reports.

"The great benefit of Mobile DVIR is fleets can now capture preventative maintenance data from any location, any driver, all without the hardware or software requirements that most other systems require," says Tom Metcalf vice president of marketing and development at FleetLine Metrics, LLC. "This helps fleets capture inspection data from their drivers in real time, helping them transform the data into something they can use immediately to address costs and safety. And fleets can do it all for around $20 per month."

The printable Mobile DVIR inspection form meets FMCSA requirements and displays all the required vehicle inspection data, including a driver certification field.
