Fontaine Spray Suppression has taken the mudflap hanger to new heights with its new Flex Wedge, which allows a driver to easily change a mudflap himself and has features designed to prevent hanger damage.

Developed based on input from equipment makers, fleets and drivers, the Flex Wedge is made of lightweight composite materials that cut weight by up to 6 pounds and offer excellent resistance to corrosion. It allows up to 90 degrees movement forward or back.

A unique mudflap retaining system can secure rubber or poly mudflaps in standard or anti-spray styles.

The system allows for easy change-out of mudflaps, allowing drivers to handle the task themselves -- not an insignificant feature, since missing mudflaps soon will mean points against a driver's and company's safety record under the new CSA 2010 enforcement regime from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

In addition, the system is designed so if a mudflap gets pinched at the dock, the detents in the retaining system will break, rather than the entire hanger -- and the retaining system part is a much less expensive replacement than an entire hanger.
