All Atlas Series models will feature a three-gear Constant Mesh gearbox, as well as FloatingNut and Twin-Bulkhead design. The first release in the series, the Atlas 55, will offer a 170,000-pound load capacity, a 30,000-pound side-load capacity, and a 55,000-pound lift capacity. It will be followed by the release of the Atlas 65 in early 2011 with even greater load capacities.

The Classic Series offers many of the same engineering features as the Atlas Series, but with a more cost-effective two-shaft Constant Mesh gearbox design and lower capacity ratings. It offers a 140,000-pound load capacity, a 27,000-pound side-load capacity, and a 39,000-pound lift capacity.

"Acquisitions and product line extensions over a long period of time produced a redundant landing gear portfolio that generated confusion in the market," said Sam Martin, chief operating officer for SAF-Holland. "We have now integrated these global technologies into a restructured product line-up that better serves our customers with a more defined offering,"
