UD Trucks North America's recently showed off its 2011 new medium duty truck product to dealers, including the company's new SCR-based EATS (Exhaust After-Treatment System) system.

The new products feature an all-new cab and operator's environment, and the new 7-liter GH7 diesel engine, which was jointly developed by UD Trucks Corp. and Volvo Powertrain Development. The new trucks offer improved performance, economy, aerodynamics, and the versatility of a variety of transmission options, including the Allison 3000 Series automatic, according to the company.

The cab and interior are completely redesigned, with more legroom and an upgrade in driver comfort.

"The addition of the Allison 3000 transmission when combined with the high torque engine will open the doors to more vocational sales," said Greg Herdzina, sales manager for the UD Trucks brand at Chicago Mack, in Summit, Ill., such as municipal applications, refuse and recycling, and the heating oil business.

"The fact that the SCR package is proven technology for UD Trucks and the clean installation for the overall package will be easy to sell," said Jim Sayre, Jr. of G.L. Sayre Inc.
