GE Capital Fleet Services has launched a new version of its Mobile Resource Intelligence, in addition to recently signing a three-year full-service agreement with G4S Wackenhut to outfit the company's fleets with telematics units.

The newest version of Mobile Resource Intelligence, GE's telematics mapping platform, is meant to improve the task of routing and dispatching mobile workers, enabling higher productivity and lower operating costs.

Key features of the new version include:

* A closest vehicle search option, which allows users to locate and dispatch vehicles in near real-time.
* Same-day and historical trip history for multiple vehicles, which creates efficient routes at the lowest possible cost based on fleet trip history.
* A user-defined point-of-interest (POI) search and display that allows multiple POI types to be searched, selected and simultaneously displayed on an interactive map.
* The near real-time POI events function calculates and displays when a vehicle has stopped within the POI geofence.
* The driving directions with e-mail capability provides multiple ways to e-mail turn-by-turn directions to and from any address with the click of a mouse.
* Flexible vehicle labeling customizes labels based on vehicle or fleet attributes and display up to 1,000 vehicles on an interactive map for simple tracking.
* A new right click menu allows address and location data to be pre-filled without having to be typed in manually.

In addition to the new features, GE expanded its 25-year relationship with G4S Wackenhut to deploy telematics units.

"Fleet optimization through the utilization of telematics will not only help us cut costs, but will also allow us to better serve our customers," said Dean Saunders, senior director of purchasing for G4S Wackenhut.
