The CEI Group has released a new DriverCare Web-Based Training lesson that provides techniques for coping safely with the hazards of winter driving.

The 25-minute interactive lesson, called Winter Driving, uses animated 3D computer graphics, high-impact sound effects and a narrated text to teach drivers the best ways to avoid accidents under such typical winter weather conditions as snowfall whiteouts, freezing rain, black ice, snowmelt runoff and fog.

In winter conditions, the training recommends increasing normal good weather following distances by two or three times, and turning and braking as slowly and gradually as possible. Other tips include staying out of highway truck "caravans," and avoiding the use of engine braking and cruise control.
