The new feature is designed to prevent damage conditions caused from curbing, cuts and abrasions and protects casing for greater retreadability.

The HSR1 tire, which is produced at the company's Mt. Vernon, Ill., plant, is equipped with pyramidal stone ejectors that provide wet traction, as well as a tread compound that allows for longer life.

"All of the durability features of the HSR1 tire, including the new rib design, will help pick-up and delivery fleets reduce their overall driving costs through increased tire life," said Clif Armstrong, Continental's director of marketing for commercial vehicle tires - The Americas.
