TMW Systems has signed a map data and content licensing agreement with Navteq for a development program that will enhance TMW's software portfolio with new geographic visualization and routing tools.

"We are excited to bring the benefits of this new relationship with NAVTEQ to TMW customers of our transportation management systems and our mobile communications applications," said David Wangler, president and CEO of TMW Systems. "With access to world-class mapping capabilities and widely-accepted, truck-specific routing data, TMW now has a digital platform on which to build a new class of software tools. These geographically-aware applications can energize personnel and fleet productivity with new business insight."

TMW is also eyeing the integration of the navigation system with TMW's D2Link handheld mobile device application. Customers of TMW operations software will soon be able to use the Navteq map data and content for routing, out-of-route alerts, business analysis and fleet status displays.

"This agreement brings another notable technology firm to the list of companies that we work with in fields such as emergency response, government, retail, transportation and utilities," said Roy Kolstad, vice president and general manager of enterprise americas, Navteq.

The first prototype integrations from TMW with Navteq map data will be on display at the TMW Systems booth during the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition this week in Las Vegas.
