Freightliner Custom Chassis is making an enhanced instrumentation panel standard on new walk-in van chassis models
. The company redesigned to the panel to improve ergonomics, reliability and ease of maintenance.

The new display features a larger messaging center display area and Allison prognostics transmission information. The unit is completely sealed to protect from dust and water, and will be available on FCCC's complete line of diesel-powered MT-45 and MT-55 WIV chassis.

"Our customers requested a desire to add additional features to the instrumentation panel," said Scott Larson, engineering manager for FCCC. "We listened to them and incorporated their needs into this new panel."

The prognostics information provides transmission maintenance information, such as oil and filter life, and advises when excessive clutch wear is detected. The panel is available in green or white backlighting, which provides improved brightness during nighttime operation. The instrument panel bezel has also been redesigned to eliminate any ghosting on the windshield.

The new panel also has two less wire connections to the chassis, reducing potential connectivity issues. The new panel also includes a diesel exhaust fluid reservoir gauge for selective catalytic reduction systems.

FCCC's hybrid-electric chassis is also available with an updated instrumentation panel, which includes a state-of-charge gauge for the battery as well as a vehicle performance gauge. This gauge assists the driver in maximizing the efficiency of the hybrid system operation based on acceleration and regenerative braking reports.

The redesigned instrumentation panel will be available this month.
