Rayconnect has unveiled a new line of self-heating fluid connectors, which work to keep the urea-based fluid used in the selective catalytic reduction process from freezing
. The products will be showcased at the upcoming SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress and Exhibition in Rosemont, Ill., Oct. 6-7.
Rayconnect engineers are working on how best to run these connectors, which currently have a power supply and are heated by a thermistor. "The goal is to minimize energy consumption and reduce the circuit heating time in order to offer a more economical alternative than externally heated connector systems proposed by competitors," the company said.
Rayconnect provides fluid handling quick connectors to the automotive and heavy-duty truck industries. Based in Rochester Hills, Mich., Rayconnect designs and manufactures connection solutions for fluid transfer systems, including fuel, fuel vapor, engine coolant, oil, air and refrigerant.
