PPG Commercial Coatings has created Electrolysis Corrosion Kontrol, or ECK, an anti-corrosion compound for metals
. ECK was designed for use in a broad range of body building and manufacturing applications where different metals may come in contact.

Through an agreement with Van Nay, PPG will be the sole U.S. distributor of the new product.

ECK, which contains sacrificial zinc, works by slowing down electrolytic reactions as well as blocking moisture. It has been tested and proven to prevent corrosion between aluminum and stainless steel fasteners, the company says.

As it withstands temperatures up to 1,000 degrees, ECK can prevent different types of corrosion including mag-chloride, cal-chloride, galvanic and electrolysis. The compound is safe to use on painted and unpainted surfaces, as well as with rubber and plastic. Containing no silicone, ECK is petroleum-based, so it will not dry or wash off.
