Abanaki Corp. has released its disk-type oil skimmer, a device for removing unwanted tramp oils from coolants and parts washers
. The skim disk consists of a plastic disk and 110-volt fan-cooled gear motor.

The product also features a boomerang-shaped wiper blade that extends over the edge of the receiving trough. In addition, it has a "no drip" wiper holder system to keep oil from dripping.

Abanaki's new disk skimmer is built out of plastic and features plastic motor housing and frame. Its durable polymer housing won't corrode, according to the company. A built-in shaft is sealed to prevent premature motor wear from oil contamination.

The company says disk skimmers can be mounted on drums and in places where the water level does not fluctuate.
