Wabash National Corporation has rolled out a new aerodynamic accessory for semi-trailers, the DuraPlate AeroSkirt, which has received the EPA's SmartWay approval.

The new AeroSkirt can provide 5.6 percent of fuel savings and a 6 percent efficiency improvement, the company says. This side skirt's design allows for the ability to flex inward and outward to reduce damage.

"With fuel economy a growing area of focus for trucking fleets, and in compliance with California Air Resource Board's (CARB) new trailer aerodynamic requirements, we are excited to introduce this product that improves our customers ability to operate more efficiently," said Jamie Scarcelli, vice president and general manager of DuraPlate Products Group.

The trailer skirt, which was developed by Wabash's DuraPlate Products Group, is easy to install, as it can be attached to a variety of model trailers.
