Gary Growden of Apple Valley, Minn., has developed the new T2 XL - "6th Wheel Rear Steering Axle," for tractor-trailers, buses and motor coaches.

According to the company, the rear steering axle can help reduce traffic congestion, engine idle time and fuel consumption by 3.8 percent. The new design meets national fuel economy standards as well as the American Trucking Associations' recommendations for carbon emissions.

The T2 XL "6th Wheel" reduces wear and tear as well as damage to tires, wheels, axles, curbs, signage and trailer body. The rear steering axle has many safety features, including the prevention of rear end collisions while attempting turns in city driving.
