Windyne has developed Flex-Fairing, a retractable and adjustable device that fits below the truck trailer, designed to improve aerodynamics.
The Windyne fairing folds up for easy access to the underside of the trailer.

By using the unit, drivers can save at least 6.86 percent in fuel, the company says.

The adjustable and flexible nature of the fairing allows for the greatest efficiency while also giving the driver access to the underside of the trailer. The device is mounted on hinges, so the fairing can be folded up against the trailer body when need be. The Flex-Fairing also adjusts as drivers extend the length of the wheelbase to meet weight distribution requirements and increase their speeds for freeway driving.

The Flex-Fairing telescopes with the positioning of the bogies, with no handling necessary. The bogie is moved backwards, creating no gaps between the fairing and the bogie.

The 100-pound fairing is mostly built out of polycarbonate material. It's also made with a skirt at the bottom of the rigid portion of the fairing, to add aerodynamic efficiencies while withstanding impact.
